Have you ever seen such a cute face? Meet Abby! This girl has the biggest heart and so much love to give. She loves to be pet and will just talk to you and tell you all about her day. She loves children, but does not do well with other dogs or cats and would need to be the only pet in the home. She unfortunately had a severe case of heartworm with secondary damage to her heart, lungs and vessels around heart when she came to us. We are currently treating her. It is very important to keep her and her heart rested in her new home during her treatment through the end of August. She will need frequent checks with your vet and expect to keep her on medication-- potentially for the rest of her life. She may have a shorter than normal lifespan due to the damage done by the heartworms, but she is doing much better with treatment. If you have the right home and the time to give her your love and help her to get through this battle she is here waiting to love you forever.
