ABOUT ALEXIS Alexis is a 3 year old terrier mix that loves life! She originally came to HAP when she was found as a stray in Alabama. Our shelter partner down south didn't have any space for her, so we offered to take her in. Despite being an adult, this girl is one big puppy at heart. Alexis loves to play and is eager to learn new things. Whether it's taking a hike on a nearby trail or zooming around the fenced fields here at HAP, she loves to explore! She is highly food motivated, making the training opportunities endless. Once her energy is burned out, she enjoys curling up on a doggy bed or in your lap for some snuggles. Alexis has been an active member of our Doggy Day Out program, which offers her a break from shelter stress. Here's what some volunteers had to say about their experience with her: "My husband and I had such a great day with Alexis. Her little butt wiggle is the best! She was good in the car, good on the leash, and great with everyone who wanted to say hi to her. She's also listened really well. We hiked 4 miles with a couple of stops in the water- which she loved! We had lunch at Grain and she had great manners, and we finished up with a pup cup from Rita's because she was a very very good girl and deserved it!!" - Sara "We just finished a nice walk with Alexis and she was such a good girl. she's so very sweet! I LOVE her! I took her to brew haha and she licked my sandwich and then when i gave her a piece she decided she didn't want any, haha! What a great face she has too!" - Lex *Alexis is available for both foster or adoption! The shelter can be a stressful place for her, so she is hoping to be in a calm, peaceful environment soon. Alexis is seeking a home as your only pet. In the meantime, you are welcome to submit a questionnaire if interested in foster or adoption! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog, but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started. ***Alexis's adopter is eligible to receive training support from our certified dog trainer both pre- and post-adoption.
