I am in foster so an appointment will be needed to meet with me!Allie is a beautiful, sweet and smart 6 year old Belgian Malinois. Allie loves people and would like nothing more than to be able to spend her time hanging out with her people around the house or taking adventures on walks or hikes. She is food motivated and willing to work and learn if it means she gets to make her people happy. Allie walks fairly well on a leash and is working on her basic obedience commands. Allie is crate trained and appears to be house trained. It would be best for Allie to be in a home with no other animals or children. Allie spent the last several months living in a foster home. While there she often spent time hanging out in the home office while her foster mom worked. Allie would solicit attention but once it was time to go back to working, she would quietly find a spot on her dog bed and take a nap. Even though this girl is very well behaved, she will require an experienced owner who is able to set rules and boundaries and who has experience with working breeds. She will need a home where she is challenged mentally and exercised to burn off some of that Malinois energy. Allie doesn’t have the extreme intensity some Malinois have but that doesn’t mean that she doesn’t have drive. Her family should understand how to make her successful even if that means she may not be able to participate in all aspects of their lives. An example: she may not do well at a picnic with many animals and children running around however a small group of only adults gathering to enjoy a quiet BBQ may be OK for her. Special Adoption ProcedureHousing requirements: No other animals or Children in the home. Adopters must have recent experience owning a working breed dog. Applications will be reviewed by the Animal Enrichment Manager and adopters will get a phone call to talk about Allie`s needs and if she is a good fit for the household. Applications will not be first come, first served but rather best fit for Allie.A Meet and Greet will be scheduled with Allie and her foster mom. If this dog has been successful in our play groups it is not a guarantee that a dog will be social with other dogs in their home or in public settings. Dogs are individuals and have personality conflicts, just like us. Play groups do not guarantee that territorial or resource guarding issues will not surface in the home.
