Adopt Annie a Black Beagle / Labrador Retriever / Mixed dog in St Paul

Location:
Saint Paul, MN
Description:

About Annie: Hi, my name is Annie! My foster mom thinks it's short for Antiques Roadshow, Anteater, Antarctica, Andromeda...but 'Annie-way', one look in my eyes and you'll fall in love with me! I'm a 4-year-old female beagle mix (probably part pointer) and I weigh about 32 pounds. I'm fully potty trained. I'll go into my crate but you might have to coax me in there first. I'm heartworm positive and I'll worm my way into YOUR heart! I LOVE to sniff and chase squirrels and rabbits. My favorite song is Smooth Criminal. The rescue doesn't know much about my past except that I came from Alabama! I haven't been through a Minnesota winter yet but if you are patient, I can learn to love the snow. I love long walks and playing outside, but I enjoy chilling on the couch too. I'm pretty friendly with strangers and calm children and I can get along with other pets. Generally, I react toward other dogs the same way they react to me. If we sniff and the other dog is calm, I'm calm too. But if the other dog starts barking and growling then I do the same! As for cats, I keep a respectful distance. The resident cat in my foster home doesn't like any dogs. I was scared of her at first, but we are slowly starting to get along (or at least politely ignore each other). I will bond to you like glue! I love to know where you are--I cry a little when you leave the house (or just when my foster mom goes to our building's shared laundry room). I may not be a lap dog, but I will sit right next to you on the couch. Another of my nicknames is Spot Stealer. If you leave your seat, I will jump right on it and keep it warm for you! Even though I get a little anxious when you leave, I never chew on anything I'm not supposed to and I'm not too interested in playing with toys. The one exception is when I can tell we're going outside to potty or for a walk, I grab my teddy bear and shake it around because I'm so excited!! I like to eat my food throughout the day and I often take a few kibbles at a time and eat them away from my bowl. We are trying to train me to come when you call my name. Most of the time I respond to it (because I love getting treats!!), but if I see a rabbit or squirrel when we're outside, I laser-focus on it and I can hardly think about anything else. A good harness is essential for walks! You might be surprised at how strong I am. The best home for me would have a yard to run around in! I am a little vocal when I hear our apartment neighbors going in and out, but we haven't had any complaints so far. Also, have a good brush and vacuum because I shed a lot! Annie is fixed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations for her age. Adoption Fee: $550+ applicable tax Annie is heartworm positive and available for pre-adoption until treatment is complete. TCPR will cover the treatment, vet visits, and medication related to the heartworm treatment but the adoptive family will be responsible for transporting her to and from vet appointments in Minneapolis as well as following the strict activity restrictions required during treatment.
