Meet Ashley! 3-year-old Ashley and 12-year-old Mary Kate were reportedly abandoned together and fed by strangers as they lived on the streets. Eventually, they were brought to San Bernardino Shelter as strays. Their appearances suggest they've had tough lives and had at least one litter of puppies each. Both are underweight; Ashley only weighs 34 lbs. We don't typically rescue such a young dog, but we could not leave her behind! And so, on August 8th, Ashley and Mary Kate became Frosted Faces and began their new lives that will only be filled with love and gentle care. Despite the hardships they've endured, Ashley and Mary Kate are so sweet. Ashley went on a two-week Frosted Fling so we could learn more about her in a home while she received extra love and care. After a week, her fling family asked if they could foster Ashley. Isn't that wonderful? Her now-foster mom reports: "Ashley has been with us for just over a week, and now that she has kicked a nasty cold and is starting to gain some confidence, we're starting to see more of her personality come out! Here is what we've learned so far: -She's a major snuggle bug and really looks to humans for reassurance and affection. -The first few days she was a bit stiff with our two dogs but with some separation, parallel walks, and time she came around quickly and realized she could trust them. Now, they're all good buddies. -100% housetrained and likes her crate - she has zero separation anxiety -Loves food, but seems to have some past trauma around eating in front of people. We're going at her pace and allowing her to eat wherever she wants, without us around. -At first I didn't believe the 3-year-old age estimate, but I do now. Girl can throw down when she wants to play! This is making our young dog very happy. -A bit of leash reactivity when she sees other dogs out on walks (yipping and pulling towards them) which we're working on, but otherwise an easy girl to walk. -I'm very proud of her for how she is bravely overcoming her fears and trusting us to help her with that."
