Hi! My name is Bambi, and I am IN SOUTH KOREA waiting to be matched to a home in Los Angeles! I was rescued from a terrible situation. I am no longer in danger thanks to my rescuers and DoVE Project. I would have likely ended up in the dog meat trade had I not been rescued and taken in by DoVE Project. I am currently in South Korea and now I am looking for my forever family! ID/NAME: CARE23-009 / BambiSEX/WEIGHT/AGE: Female / 12 lbs / 1 yrBIRTH DATE: January 1, 2022BREED: Jindo mixVACCINATIONS/SPAY/NEUTER: Vaccinations complete / SpayedHealth: Burn scars around her back and her neck. Sparse fur loss around the scars. **Vet prognosis: Bambi will not regrow hair in the affected area, but this will not affect her ability to lead a normal and healthy life. BEHAVIOR: Bambi is a gentle, quiet dog with a moderate energy level. She loves people. She can be a bit cautious at the beginning and may bark a little at strangers, but she will warm up as soon as the stranger approaches her with calm gestures. Due to the past trauma of abuse, she may get startled and terrified if you suddenly move to hug her. Bambi gets along with other dogs; she may not be the one who approaches other dogs first, but she's always ready to engage in play with others. She loves to play with dogs of small sizes; she doesn't seem to be too interested in bigger dogs. ABOUT JINDOSJindos are known for their fierce loyalty, high intelligence, rarely barking, and playful nature. They make great indoor family dogs, as Jindos are clean, easily housetrained, and faithful to family members. They are also mid-level active and love being socialized at dog parks, hiking, and joining the family on trips. ABOUT SHELTER STRESSDogs who have lived in shelters for a long period of time develop behaviors due to an environment that is loud, chaotic, and stressful, even in the best shelters in the US. Dogs in shelters have limited socialization exposure to people and urban environments. DoVE dogs also come from a traumatic background such as dog meat farms and slaughterhouses. While many of our dogs acclimate within a few months with consistency, structure, and patience, some of our more sensitive dogs can take longer to rehabilitate. It's important to note that these sensitive dogs are even more attuned to human emotions and behavior, making for a deeper connection human-dog connection.
