"Possible fear biter." Three words that can condemn a husky to death. It means that this face, Bear's real face, was never seen by the public. That warning put him in the "Rescue Pull Only" category at Devore shelter in San Bernardino County, California. How is that fair? It wasn't Bear's fault that people failed him. He was dumped in Cedarpines Park, an unincorporated community in the mountains. Left alone in the woods to fend for himself. Eventually, he was taken to the shelter, where he did not do well. His intake notes say that he was extremely fearful, exhibiting signs of intense anxiety and stress. I would have snapped at people too! And the worst part? The shelter determined that he was around a year old! So, a literal baby. Abandoned and afraid, waiting for rescue as his only option. And luckily for him, this time we were there. We got him. That was August 2023, and Bear has proven time and time again that he is a lover and not a biter. His gentle nature around people shows that he is more than a kennel card. In fact, he loves attention! And will come right up to you for lovins and head scritches.Bear likes to play with the other huskies, as long as they respect his space. He is totally a medium energy boy. Chilling in a cool spot with a comfy bed is one of his favorite pastimes. He doesn't mind sharing a room or those cool spots as long as no one tries to take his bed or his food. It's time for Bear to find a home, full of belly rubs and people to love him. A family that will keep our promise to him: that he will never be afraid like that again.
