Charlie must have confirmed placement with an ADOPTER or RESCUE PARTNER by Wednesday, May 29th by 10:00 am. This 11-year-old powder-sugar pup is looking for an adopter or rescue partner who can care for him in his golden years! Charlie came into our care as an owner surrender due to homelessness and health. Our medical team noticed that his back hind legs shake when walking. We started him on medication for stress management and noticed general signs of a senior dog like arthritis. During his stay here, he has been enjoying doing some sunbathing and pets; just go with the flow for him! However he does need patience when taking him in and out of his kennel. Recently, Charlie was found to have a doggie cold and has been started on antibiotics. He is easy to leash and even easier to take on walks. He likes to take his time and get all the sniffs! This golden boy had a good meet in the shelter with another dog, even when the other pup wanted to zoom around him. Charlie best suits a slow approach and some good baby talk to sweeten him up! On 5/24, Charlie was diagnosed with a URI. PCR test results came back positive for pneumovirus. Charlie was relocated to ISO and is currently in recovery. NOTES: 5/27 staff noted: Charlie likes a slow approach and baby talk to feel comfortable with new people. He did give a little whale eye at first, but after sitting with him for a few minutes with me he seemed more interested in going for a walk. He was a little avoidant of the leash at first but sniffed it and was then easy to leash and leave his kennel. During his dog meet he was indifferent even when the other dog was bouncing around him. He gave some small mid-level tail wags and polite sniffs. Then turned around to go smell other things. No issues returning to his kennel. Plopped right back on his bed. 5/27 staff noted: ACAs needed help with Charlie today as he was growling at them in the kennel and wouldn't get off his bed. 5/20 volunteer noted: Charlie was laying on his kennel floor when I approached, he didn't get up when I opened the door. I stepped in and leashed him. He was a bit nervous to leave the kennel but with some talking he came walking through. He was slipping around some as his nails are long and he couldn't get a good grip with the water on the floor. In the eval room to get his pictures done he went towards the set nervous of his surroundings still shaking he did allow slight pets from a volunteer. Took him outside where he was pacing but opened up more and enjoyed being pet. Allowed me to handle him all over and enjoyed me hanging by his side. He did see dogs at the fence and perked up and some showed some interest. He's very sweet and trying his best to be brave. 5/19 staff noted: Very nervous old man, go super slow.
