Cielo came to us from a rough past where he was living outside. He has adapted well to living inside and being spoiled. He is now ready to find his Furever home. Cielo is a beautiful, 5 year old, 60 lb, make blue merle Australian Shepherd. He has split color Amber/Blue eyes and a full tail. He is extremely affectionate and thinks he is a lap dog. Cielo is very smart and eager to please. He is true definition of a velcro dog. He loves to be right next to you and if you are sitting, he will likely be at your feet or in your lap. He will follow you wherever you go. He is on the high energy side of being an Aussie and frequently gets the zoomies. He doesn't know his own size so may not be best for children or homes with many breakable items. He can get rambunctious but is learning to “relax”. Cielo truly wants all the love and attention he can get. He is very tolerant of most things but is not a fan of his nails being clipped or tail being brushed. Otherwise he loves the attention of being brushed, bathed, and pampered. Due to his past, Cielo will need someone that can continue to train with him. He can be reactive with people and boundaries (doors, fences, ect) He may jump, bark, or growl, normally with excitement, but may take some time to calm down. His Foster mom has introduced him to new people and he is weary initially, until the guests show him affection. As soon as he received pets, they were on good terms. He has done well on outings with foster mom and was behaved, but nervous if someone spoke directly to him. Someone experienced with the breed is a must as he is very high energy and very inquisitive. He is also being muzzle trained and is using it less and less with every experience. He will need someone who has the time to keep him busy. He likes to be doing whatever his people are doing. Cooking? He will taste test. Putting together furniture? He will test its durability. Gardening? He won’t help dig holes but he will supervise. He does not destroy things when left alone but may if he is not receiving enough attention while his human is home. He likes everything to be all about him so he would be best as an only dog but may do okay with other dogs that are not as attention seeking. He may resource guard food due to his past. He is currently learning basic commands and manners and picks them up very quickly as he wants to please his people. He walks well on a leash but again, will need someone that can work with him on distractions. He loves squishmallow stuffies, blankets, and many other soft items. So much he will destuff or chew on them. His foster mom says even though she never showed him how to use the potty bells on the door, he figured it out. He helps her carry in the mail and is learning other jobs around the house. He loves car rides and if the door opens, he is in ready to go! He will make an excellent dog for someone who is willing to train and show him a lot of affection. Cielo needs a home with a fenced yard or private access to a space to run off-leash that is fenced. A home with no children or cats please as he has not been tested with them. Cielo is neutered, up to date on vaccines, on heartworm, flea and tick prevention, and is house trained. Cielo loves a soft sided crate but hasn't been in a wire crate at his foster's home; he really doesn't do well by himself in enclosed spaces due to his past.
