The Tale of Despereaux is a children`s book all about the adventures of a mouse named Despereaux Tilling. Full disclosure though- our Desperaux is actually a dog, not a mouse. In case you couldn’t tell. Here’s what one volunteer said about this sweet, sensitive boy:“Despereaux is such a sweet and gentle pup! He came in with a female friend who was also very shy but she got adopted right away. Despy has struggled to adjust to shelter life, hiding at the back of his kennel and being afraid to walk on leash. We decided to introduce him to a new friend who is also struggling for the confidence to walk on leash and they immediately hit it off. They both take a lot of encouragement to walk (or be carried) to a yard, but once in the yard they are friendly and social. He is very patient and trusting when he needs encouragement to walk and patiently lets me pick him up to get the rest of the way there. Despereaux is a very kind and sensitive soul. He has done well with the dogs he has met here and just needs a confident friend to guide him. He is lovely with humans and will make a fantastic companion once he has a little time to settle in.
