Adopt Ginger Snap a Red/Golden/Orange/Chestnut Terrier (Unknown Type

Location:
Wethersfield, CT
Description:

Name: Ginger SnapNicknames: Goodest girlDoppelganger: Physically an otter, but with the sweet exuberance of Dug from UPBreed: Terrier mixWeight: ~42 lbs (the perfect medium size!)Age: ~ 1 yearBefore Transfer from one of our Southern rescue partners, now in an One More Dog Rescue foster homeEnergy level: Medium-high. She currently does a minimum of 2 walking miles a day. In the words of her foster mom “she will crush a 5+ mile hike.” After daily exercise, she settles down for the perfect work from home buddy with play breaks here and thereKey descriptors: Sweet. High-spirited. Enthusiastic. Playful. Sensitive. IntuitiveWhat she loves: Food. Peanut Butter-filled kongs. Snuggles. Her person. Dogs. Chasing balls & frisbees in the yardWhat we love: Her beautiful golden eyes. How her tail wags the moment you look at her. How eager she is to please youHer foster mom boasts: She is THE most sweet natured. What makes us laugh: Her two webbed toes on her right front paw. The way she army crawls towards you when you’re not providing enough attentionHer least favorite thing: Alone time. She wants to be with you – whether you’re home, out, about, and around the town. She is happiest with her people and wants to accompany you on all your outingsIndependence level: Exceptionally low. She has no concept of boundaries. Our sweet girl is very much a velcro dog. She’ll be at your feet while you sit at your desk and next to you when it’s time to get on the couch. She’ll be your shadow around the house and has a good bit of separation anxiety when you leave, which her foster mom is actively working on with herStranger danger: Higher. She’s not fond of those who come on too strong and will attempt to avoid and sometimes give a few barks at a new person. Ignoring her and waiting for her to come to you is the way to win her overWhat she knows: Sit. Lay down. Treat. Come. What she’s working on: Keeping four on the floor during interactions with both humans and dogs. When her humans get home, it’s described as “she’s so jazzed and just spring boards off of me.” Mouthing when in play modeDogs: This is mandatory. She’s a low-confidence girlie who really comes out of her shell in the presence of other dogs. A confident pup to boost her ego would be amazing. She does play on the rough side though and is still learning boundaries, so a tolerant medium-large dog would be bestCats: Yes, if dog-savvy. She was fostered with a cat short-term and there was no chasing on Ginger’s endKids: She’d rather not… they’re just a lot and overwhelming. Respectful 10+ kiddos would be bestCrate-trained: She does not do well in a crate. When her people are gone (for a short amount of time) she has done well gated off to an area with a window she can look out ofHouse-trained: Yes, if kept on a consistent schedule Ginger Snap is vaccinated, spayed, heartworm negative and microchipped. She is available for adoption to residents of CT and surrounding states. If you are interested in adopting, please complete an application from omdrescue.org
