Gunther is a good ole 70 lb boy who loves the outdoors, sniffs, and wildlife. He has attended several adoption events and done well with people and other dogs but he REALLY loves to visit the hardware store! He is intrigued by all the activity and would be happy to supervise your next project! Gunther has a loving, sweet, and goofy personality. He enjoys playing with his tennis balls and squeaker toys although they may only last for a few days. He doesnt have a fancy pedigree (some kind of shepherd mix or black mouth cur?) and is mature at 7-8 years old. But if you give this good ole boy a chance he'll provide you with good company and lots of love. He just wants you to love on him and will give that back to you with kisses and paws. Gunther is not a velcro dog so you can move around the house while he veg out on couch and naps. Gunther is in a foster home and his foster mom says he sleeps through the night, is housetrained (no accidents!), is not fond of his crate, and is good on the leash. He LOVES his walkies and is becoming well known in his neighborhood. He even took an overnight trip to a lake area and did well in the car and adjusted well to new surroundings. An ideal adopter would like to take walks or hikes - this will help keep the weight off and he truly loves it. Just going to a field to let him sniff scents is something he really likes.Gunther has been known to bark at things he hears outside but is getting much better at being a quiet boy. He never barks during the night or when his person is at home. Gunther does great in households with mature kids and adults. Also, Gunther would do best in a single dog household. He loves being around other dogs but sometimes has a hard time sharing his personal space with other pups. Guther is used to being in a home so the transition to your home should be a snap. ***As long as our dogs are on the website they are available.
