Animal Profile: Harold is an estimated 1-year-old 50 lb neutered male Shepherd Husky mix who was taken in as a stray by Los Angeles Animal Services and transferred to our friends at Paws for Life K9 where he was assessed to be shy with people and social with dogs and most comfortable with gentle dogs. He is young and needs some guidance on how to dog, and would do best in a home with another friendly dog. We will share more as we get to know him. Foster Update: After about 6 weeks with the guidance of a patient foster and resident dogs Harold (fka Harry) is making great progress. He is comfortable in a crate but finally choosing to come out on his own to seek engagement. He is playful with other dogs and having a resident dog in his forever home will be important for his transition. He is good with cats. He is still skittish with loud noises and large group settings but he is improving each day. As his confidence has grown he is showing that he is a power chewer and puller so we are working on improving manners. He rides well in a crate in the car. He has had no accidents in the house and is not vocal! It's been wonderful watching how he comes out of his shell a little more each day; Harold needs people that will take time to earn his trust and win his love. When we first met, Harold wanted nothing to do with me. He wanted to hide away and melt into the crate. I've slowly worked at chipping away his walls. It's amazing to see his progress. While he still has a long way to go, I'm happy to helping him along.
