“It seems like Joey’s been around forever. I guess because she has been. Joey came to us as a stray, like any other incoming dog she gets vaccinated and put away. She developed sores on her legs. Vet staff worked to determine what was going on. Joey started losing weight and not wanting to eat. Vet assistant, Megan, took Joey under her wing and quickly became her advocate and best friend. Vet determine Joey was suffering from pyometra- and it was big one! They removed her infected uterus and Joey was put away.Joey won the hearts of all the staff but no one was offering to foster her.Then Lori and Jon said “we’ll take another big dog foster, please!” Joey has adapted to life as a normal house dog like she’s been there forever. She’s been rocking naps on the couch, enjoying lake vacations, and loving attention from her foster parents.Here is what her foster parents want to share about Joey “Meet Joey, Jo, Jo Jo…she is one of the sweetest pitties I’ve been around. She has met probably 20 new people this weekend and everybody LOVES her! She’s somewhere between 5-7 years old(?), about 55-60 pounds (she’s a muscular built girl) and the best personality. She gets along great with other dogs (recommend outside, leashed first intros), does great in her crate, is potty trained and loves nothing more than laying in your lap. Joey is a total Velcro dog and her new owner will be getting a pup that is happy to be your new best friend. Joey is more than willing to be a total couch potato and would a perfect companion. Joey has continued to blossom in foster care. She’s really adjusted to my dog (high energy 1 yr old) and grudgingly gives her an hour or 2 of play each day. Joey ignores my cat (unless he takes off running). This dog looks like she’s been through a lot and like every foster, is just SO grateful to have found a safe space. She’s definitely more of a couch potato and is just happy to lay next to you. Crate trained and housebroken, she’s the ideal pet for a busy family.”Joey is in a foster home.
