Hey there, I'm Lou! Are you a marathon runner? No? Whew! Me neither. You know how you can get out of shape when the weather is too hot or too cold and you decide to stay inside and watch your favorite shows for a few weeks or months instead of getting outside? Well, let's just say I've been at the shelter for a bit and my physical fitness level may not be what it used to be, so I'm looking for a human that will take me on walks and help me get my beach body back. I'm a 5-6 year old pit bull mix and weigh about 92 pounds. I'm a big, sweet fella and I love being around humans. I know my size can be intimidating, but I promise I'm a good boy! For example, I walk really well on a leash. After those walks you'd take me on, I'd love nothing more than to curl up on the couch beside you and snooze for a while. My ideal forever family has a comfy couch or dog bed, someone to take me on walks, and lots and lots of love to give. I had a skin biopsy to determine the cause of my skin issues and I was diagnosed with a rare, hereditary condition called black hair follicular dysplasia (BHFD). It causes the follicle, cuticle and shaft of the hair to be weaker and become easily damaged. Because of this condition I will never grow a thick haircoat and as a result of being mostly hairless I am prone to sunburn and skin infections. I should be kept in the shade and wear t-shirts while outside. I shouldn't wear a shirt permanently because that will increase the chance of skin infection. If I do get a skin infection I should be treated with antibiotics and medicated baths as needed.
