Maximilian the German Shepherd is known and regarded as a huge love bug to his friends. As his way of asking for pets, he likes to lean all 74 pounds of himself against his companions when he wants a body rub. When Max first arrived at ACSKC, he was incredibly anxious to be away from his people. While he still shows some apprehension, he has become a lot more playful. In fact, we’ve found he’s a really sporty kind of guy, as he loves to chase after tennis balls, frisbees, and play soccer! Not only does he lead an active lifestyle, Max is a dog of discerning taste: This 6-year-old has an appetite for duck patties and freeze-dried treats. We’ve found that, if given dry food, he will simply pick at it until he can get the good stuff. Eager to please, Max knows his basic commands, will come when called, and he’s housetrained. Max came to our shelter after he realized he was not a fan of toddlers, so he would prefer a home with no kids. Max seems to like other dogs after he has had time to get to know them, and would likely do best in a home with a well-rounded female companion who will respect his space when he's done with playtime. He needs to go to a home that has German Shepherd experience.
