Meet MJ, a mixed breed pup surrendered to the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 7/20. The reason given was that the two family pups were fighting over their food and that a child gate was torn up. Surrender form stated that MJ's sibling would be surrendered as well. Owner has had MJ since he was six weeks old. He weighs 32 pounds, is about 6 months old and is not neutered. Owner reported that MJ lived sometimes indoors and sometimes outdoors in the intense Texas heat, and that he was ok with other dogs as well as cats. MJ walks fairly well on a leash. He was very fascinated with all the sights, smells, and items scattered about in the room in which his pics were being taken. He's a bit uneasy at the shelter and probably can't figure out why his owners left him in this place. He is friendly and has a pleasant personality and tried to climb into my lap. He is affectionate and pleased to have a human friend show loving attention to him. Due to the overcrowded situation at the shelter, MJ is being housed in a hallway in a wire crate awaiting a bona fide kennel in which he can move about more freely and stretch his legs.
