Adopt Paige a Westie, West Highland White Terrier / Jack Russell Terrier dog in

Location:
Sidney, NE
Description:

Paige Located in Sidney NE areaTerrier fusion 5ish years oldDog friendlyCat friendly we were told but current foster doesn’t have cats No kids or OLDER calmer kids only House trained but will need a refresher when she moves homes Crate trained, knows a couple of commands but will need a refresher courseDoes have luxating patella’s that were a big issue when she was rotund however since losing weight she has had no issues Will bite if pushed or scared Must eat seperately Had a horrible ingrown dewclaw which we had corrected, she’s not a fan of nail trims so will likely need a professional to do them. Was obese but we have really worked on it, much to her dismay, and she has slimmed downUp to date on vaccines and routine vetting but still needs to have her umbilical hernia repaired and some X-rays done15-20lbs approx Paige was dumped at a VERY high kill shelter in CA and faced euth. We pulled her and after some time in a foster home transported up to us. Upon arrival we immediately noticed she morphed right into the pack at her foster home but getting her to trust the humans took a bit more time. Eventually she warmed up. We began working on her weightloss and the more exercise she got obviously the more weight she lost and the more confidence she gained. She has now blossomed into quite the little loaf of a lady. She seeks attention and gently will pick up and rest her paw on your lap/leg over and over until you show her the love she desires. She wouldn’t do well in a home with a lot of chaos or loud young children. Her current foster has a lot of dogs and she has settled in to that chaos but clearly would prefer to not deal with that either haha. When she was fatter we could easily see she had bad luxating patella’s, since she had lost weight we haven’t seen any issues with them. When she goes under to have her large umbilical hernia repaired she will get X-rays and we will see what the vet thinks from there. Also she seems to have some sensitivity around her ribs on her left side, not sure if it’s because she was so fat she wasn’t able to turn her body that direction and so has a sensitivity or what, we will have it checked out at the same time. Paige needs a home that understands despite her constantly acting hungry she cannot free feed, like a lot of us, she will eat her feelings. She also needs low resistance exercise, short walks work just fine. Most of the time Paige is a couch dweller. Paige is NOT a dog that could be happy in a home where she’s not allowed on furniture, it’s literally one of her greatest life pleasures. She loves to cuddle ON HER TERMS and constantly enjoys a Netflix marathon, she’s partial to “Pitch Perfect” movie marathons, serial killer documentaries and “Girlmore Girls.” She is house trained but she is going to have an adjustment period in a new home as she did when moved to her foster up here. Lucky she’s extremely food motivated hahaha. Paige has the cutest HUGE eyes that literally make it impossible not to adore her. Her cute little loaf shaped body, scruffy hair and rounded expressive ears make her so unique and impossible not to love. She literally just makes you smile every time you look at her. When she is scared she will air snap, however once adjusted that’s extremely rare. She isn’t destructive and really doesn’t need to kennel when you’re gone, but must eat separately. This sweet and dainty girl, despite her cubish appearance, deserves a calm and patient home that will love her for exactly who she is now and help her to reach her full potential. If you think that this home could be yours please contact us! Original Write UpPaige is one of a pair of dogs we pulled from CA. When these owner surrenders arrived to the shelter for whatever reason the shelter it only separated them but moved one to another campus! Paige immediately shut down. She became depressed and wasn't an adoption option, this meant she was a euth candidate. We couldn't stand it so we pulled them both to safety. When in a foster what we learned was that the girls, while they likedeach other, were not bonded once they adjusted to a new environment. I fact Paige kinda scared Peyton haha. On her transport layover Peyton captured the heart of an amazing veterinarian who asked to adopt her. We couldn’t have asked for a better home for her and so we were elated to have Peyton find her people. However, we have this sweet misunderstood little lady that needs a super patient and compassionate home.We are sure there is an amazing home out there for the fantastic scruffy misunderstood lil muppet, is it you??To Contact UsMessage us through our website http://www.highplainspaw.orgMessage the Facebook Page at https://www.facebook.com/HighPlainsPAWJoin and contact us through our FOSTER GROUP: https://www.facebook.com/groups/836373273962895/?ref=shareFill out our Adoption Application at https://www.highplainspaw.org/adoption-applicationFill out our Foster Application at https://www.highplainspaw.org/foster-applicationEmail us at XXXX@gmail.comCall our VOICEMAIL at (402)957-XXXX $200.00 Adoption Fee (Which is considered a non refundable donation and being we are a 501c3 organization it is tax deductible.
