This handsome and very sweet little boy is Rover, a mixed breed that was surrendered on 7/24 to the Mesquite Animal Shelter. His sibling MJ was surrendered on 7/20. Owner reported the reason for surrendering her two pets she has owned since they were 6 weeks old is that they fought over food and tore up her gate. Rover weighs 31 pounds, is 6 months old and is not neutered. The siblings are kenneled together, get along great and enjoy playing in their kennel. Rover walks nicely on a leash, is friendly and has a pleasant nature. He happily let me pet him and enjoyed attention from his new human friend. You can sense the brothers are mystified as to why they have ended up in this place. Rover is somewhat timid, shy and reserved but has only been at the shelter for 2 days. He didn't seem interested in toys or balls, nor treats. Owner commented that they are ok with other dogs and cats. These are two highly adoptable dogs and they are in need of a new home in which their owner(s) will stay committed to them and work through any issues in order for them to fit in well with their people. Problems such as tussling over food can be solved by feeding the dogs separately. A gate can be kept intact by not leaving the dogs unsupervised outside, especially in the intense Texas heat.
