Adopt Sierra a White Mixed Breed (Large) / Mixed dog in Kansas City

Sierra would loooove to meet you! She's darn near perfect and gets along with male dogs, cats and children of all ages. She's used to the comfy life: squishy bed, lots of treats, plenty of cuddles. When her previous owner passed away, family tried to take her in, but Sierra didn't love their yappy little, female Frenchie all up in her business all the time. They're hoping that Sierra can find a great forever home that will give her all the love and plays. Sierra did do well with the male dogs. She just preferred not to have any little, bitty female rivals taking the attention away from her. They also didn't feel they had enough time to spend with Sierra. Although she's 7, she would love someone who has time for a few plays and or a walk everyday. Sierra also loves fetch and was left to free roam, although sometimes she did mistake a shoe or two for a toy. What's a girl to do with all that energy when she's alone for long, long hours?Sierra recently went on a Dog Day Out! Here's what our volunteer had to say: She hasn't stopped smiling the whole time we've been together. She loved exploring the park. She rides well in the car but does try to be a front seat passenger. She does NOT like Sonic French fries but the Sonic Jr Burger is okay. She's so much fun and any family will be lucky to have her.Here's what her foster has to say about her: This sweet pup is next to perfect! She's a snuggler and a smoocher! She's got the trademark pittie smile and the softest belly that she happily lets me pet! Not only has she not had any accidents in the house, she has had zero complaints about sleeping in the crate. She does like to be tucked in thought with all the blankets that I can spare, which is alright by me. She even likes to go in her crate and rest with the door open. We love going on walks in the park and we're working on being cool, calm, and collected around the squirrels, even though they are soooo exciting! She is not a very food motivated girl, but I discovered she likes soft-baked treats. With those, we have perfected being calm and sitting and waiting to be leashed up at the door. Once that door is open, however, nothing is as enticing as the adventure.Sierra enjoys a good sniff, but is also happy to walk mostly responds great to redirection if she catches wind of something super exciting. She has been a perfect roommate so far to my 17 year old cat, by essentially ignoring her existence. The cat does the same, although I have caught the cat sleeping in Sierra's kennel. When Sierra first met the cat, she gave the ultimate respect by just laying down and giving the cat space. Sierra is obviously a social butterfly and is interested in meeting every single person she sees, even if they are far away while out on walks. I think she might do well in a large family and/or a family with other pets, although I do not have another dog in the home to prove that. She does get very excited when she sees other dogs though. She has not yet asked me to play with her, but when I ask her to play with me, she immediately responds with zoomies and tug-of-war. She is mouthy, and so we are working on understanding what are appropriate things to put your teeth on -- toys -- and what's not -- hands and arms. This may not make her ideal for families with small children, although I know she's smart enough to learn.She is an amazing companion and would love to be in her forever home. Did I mention she chases flies in the house better than the cat?? lol. Or that she LOVES to do face rubbies on the carpet or in her blankets. Sierra would make an amazing addition to any family and is ready to meet her forever family today! Sierra is in a foster home!
