Hi, my name is Sierra! I was found in Texas by a concerned citizen who believed I was hit by a car. When I first arrived at the shelter, I was unable to walk due to an injury to my front left leg. The shelter staff thinks that I might’ve had some head trauma from the accident, too, but thankfully I have recovered from that. Unfortunately, my front left leg is another story to tell. It was severely injured. So, there I was at the shelter in lots of pain, hoping for my savior to come. And…they did! It just so happens that three NorthStar volunteers were on one of their annual trips from NJ to visit the TX shelters. I saw them coming, too, and quickly made sure that my eyes said “Pick me! pick me!” and guess what?! It worked! They picked me and I got my freedom ride from the shelter to my super comfy n’ pawesome foster home. My foster mom then took me to the vet to get all checked out. Everything looked great, except for that pesky injured leg of mine. The vet recommended amputation. I then went to see a specialist and they agreed so I had surgery on April 21, 2023. Everything went well and now I’m a tripod, isn’t that really cool? I think so! I’m a young Shepherd mix puppy, estimated to be about 4 months old and I weigh 27 lbs (as of May 2023). I’m a pretty smart gal, so I’m going to get the hang of this tripod thing pretty quickly. It is so great to no longer have the pain of that mangled leg anymore. My Texas foster mom reported that I'm a typical puppy who loves to play and be goofy. I’m in my NJ foster home now and they agree with that assessment, so much fun! I'm working on my leash training and getting much better with it. Still getting used to this tripod thing too, but no worries - I got this! I’m ready to LOVE YOU!
