Stella is as goofy as she is adorable. She lives for chest scratches and will throw herself dramatically on to the ground to show that she needs some, whether she's out on the trails, in the middle of game of "catch me if you can" in the yards, or in a room full of people. She's also a kiddie pool enthusiast, a great "fetcher", and very, very into her food. Stella came to us from the Lockhart shelter when she was about a year old and was recovering from what seemed to be a burn on her back. She healed up very quickly but now has a little tuft of fur which grows the wrong way. Stella is very playful and loves to be in the yards with a dog friend, and it takes staff a few tries to find a well-matched buddy, but once Stella approves of the selection, she is fully engaged and plays really nicely. Although Stella seems to get along with every human she is introduced to, we have seen that, once in a home, she is prone to attach herself to a particular person in the household and then resource guard them from others. This is an issue which can be improved upon, but because of this we think Stella would do best with older kids or an adult only home. Stella is so much fun to be around, and everything she does is made all the more amusing thanks to her exquisite overbite. She has made some life-long friends whilst at the shelter, and we shall support Stella and her adopters with every resource available to us. She is so deserving of a home, and whilst we recognize that it will take some work to get her feeling truly comfortable, we know it'll be so worth the effort.
