Overall, this beagle is so easy to live with! Tad has been with us for six days and is rapidly assimilating with two cats and a very large back yard. He loves lots of yard time and strives to keep it clear of squirrels and small mammals. Needs secure 4' fence and gate. No climbing or digging so far, but he continues to check the gates. He should be in the house when you're not home. He is a scent hound who obsessively follows his nose, so no off-leash walks. No cat aggression shown. But with all dogs and cats, it is important that they are introduced properly. He currently is still crated, or left in office with door closed, when I leave. No accidents or destructive behavior. Barking is reserved for squirrels in trees and lasts for about 15 seconds. I believe he's best suited for home with adults. He loves scratches and pets and wants to be a lap dog. We want all our dogs to have homes as quickly as possible. In an effort to help dogs with longer stays, who are deteriorating in the shelter environment or who have more restrictions on homes they can go to find homes more quickly, the adoption fee for this dog has been waived.
