Adopt Tommy a Black - with White Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed dog in Columbia

MEET TOMMY! This beautiful pittie mix is 7 years old and weighs in at a very solid 70 lbs. Tommy came to us as part of our community outreach program when his person passed away. He was relinquished to us with three other dogs who have since been adopted. Since he's been in our care, Tommy has become our unofficial mascot. He is friendly, sweet, and beautifully trained. Tommy plays well with male and female dogs around his size. His girlfriend weighs in at 50 lbs, and his cane corso friend is about 80 lbs. There is one dog pal in the group that doesn't have much of an off switch, so when Tommy tires of playing with that dog, he removes himself to a quieter spot. Tommy is lyme positive and has been treated successfully, but his adopter will need to keep an eye on him to see if any symptoms reoccur, He may likely always test positive and have no ill effects. Tommy also has a sore left shoulder. We are treating him with supplements which work really well, and he now can be in our two hour training classes without limping. Tommy is the favorite of volunteers who are inexperienced or just want a calm and laid back dog to work with in class or take for walkies in the lane or in the woods. He will occasionally pull on his leash, but we remind him to be 'easy', and he comes back to the side of his handler. Tommy knows all of his commands, and when you tell him 'down,' he will solicit a belly rub. We try not to give in, but he is so darn cute, it's hard to ignore that tummy and the pleading brown eyes that go with his request. We adore Tommy and think as far as mascots go, he's the bestest boy. We also think he deserves a home where he can live out his senior years with a moderately active family. Steps may be a problem for him in the future, so a rancher style home may be ideal, but for now, he can go anywhere without limitations. Tommy's adoption donation fee is $350, which includes spay/neuter, routine vetting and a microchip.
