Introducing Ventura, a one year old uniquely handsome (coloring may be described as Lilac Brindle Merle) male Great Dane who is currently fostered in Charles City, IA.Ventura came to our rescue needing training with obedience and social skills and exposure to new people and environments. After spending several months working all these areas he has improved leaps and bounds while living with his foster family and he is now ready to move on to his forever home! He loves spending time with his foster parents and other dogs. He is currently in a foster home with 2 adults and 2 wonderful dog companions (one male and one female Great Dane) that have been showing him the ropes. He enjoys treats, playing with toys, being active outside, and snuggling with everyone (people and other dogs alike). He would love to have a companion dog in his forever home! He does well on leashed walks but tends to lean on the person walking him for security. Ventura enjoys being with his people more often than not and truly thrives in a calm home environment. He has been exposed to new noises and large groups of new people and enjoys meeting people of all ages see picture at this year's Eastern Iowa Pet Expo in May 2023. He has minimal experience with children and while we think he could be a great dog with older children , he is still a puppy active and skittish to live with young children. Adoptive families with calmer, older kids who have large breed dog experience will be considered. Ventura is kennel trained and successfully tolerates being left alone for reasonable periods of time. He is looking for an adoptive home where he would not need to be left alone for longer periods. He has no known experience with cats, but does fine with small dogs. His adoptive home should have a physically fenced yard.
