Name: Yam Sex: Female Estimated Age: About 2-3 years old Best Guess for Breed: Terrier Mix Weight: About 40 lbs Good With: Dogs, cats, and people! She’s do best in a home with kids over 10 years old. Story: Yam came to us from a shelter in North Carolina! We are just not sure how she ended up in there! Yam was a good momma to several babies - all of which have been adopted! Now it’s Yam’s turn. Yam is just looking for someone to be her new best furend and we know that she will repay them with endless amounts of love and tail wags. As a young dog, Yam will need an adopter who is committed to setting her up for success by enrolling in obedience training and exercising her both mentally and physically. She will also need love, patience, and socialization in order to thrive! What my foster says: Yam is a sweetie. She LOVES going on walks and playing with other dogs, she seems to light up when she goes outside. She has been sleeping well through the night and does willingly go in the crate. She is well house trained, no accidents! YAM’S PERFECT MATCH: PERFECT FAMILY: A home with adults with a dog friend (or two) is ideal. Yam is great with guests. Because she is shy, we are recommending she not go to a home with young children. Having another dog in the home is ideal to help boost her confidence and show her the ropes. Yam prefers a home with just doggy friends. PERFECT HOME: A quiet home with a doggy friend would be ideal. EXERCISE NEEDS: Yam is very good on a leash but prefers several shorter walks than one long walk. She gets an occasional case of the zoomies ! BEHAVIOR IN HOME: Yam’s favorite thing is to lounge on a comfy dog bed. She does not appreciate loud or sudden noises. She is almost completely house trained but has the occasional accident mostly when frightened. She definitely prefers to be in the company of her human or another doggy friend. She does like to chew and will occasionally opt for a shoe. She is learning the appropriate behaviors. She is learning the sit and down commands and almost has it! CRATE: Yam loves her crate and often relaxes in it by choice. She happily goes to her crate in the evening and sleeps through the night. Color Match: PURPLE - The Detective (Externally Motivated) Dog Personality — Give up quickly if they encounter obstacles or a better alternative; these are considered mild-persistence dogs.
