Zane is the Kyle`s Critters Pet of the Month!Meet Zane Zaddy! We all think Zane Zaddy is pretty great here at the Santa Fe Animal Shelter, but he is having a tough time. Unfortunately, he didn’t win the genetic lottery - if he were a 20lb poodle, we think he would have found his next home weeks ago. If he were a little younger, people would have snatched up a puppy. If he were a little older, he might have that puppy energy behind him and someone looking for a mature dog would have taken him home. Zane Zaddy ’s is in his “Goldilocks era” is an uncomfortable one. Too big for a small dog person, too small for a big dog person. Too pittie-looking for people who aren`t interested in pitbulls, not pittie enough for our pitbull lovers. Too old for a puppy, too young for a grown dog. It’s all “just right” enough to make it hard to find him a way out of the shelter. At this point, Zane Zaddy has been in the shelter for almost 2 months, and he is starting to show how super stressed he is from that experience. He can be a handful when we are leashing him up to go for walks because those periods out of his cell are the best in the day and who wouldn’t get excited by it? He has a lot to say and barks enough that people might be turned off, but he desperately wants some attention, hoping it gets him out of the shelter ASAP. But it hasn’t worked for him in the long term yet.We need to get Zane Zaddy out of the shelter. Ideally into an adoptive home. If we can’t find an adoptive home a foster would be great, especially if they can help us find Zane Zaddy that next home by feeding us pictures and videos and showing Zane off to their friends and family (or even just walks around their neighborhood). Even if we can’t find that level of foster home, a volunteer to walk him around the community or give him a “shelter break” for a night or weekend would be great. Zane is actively suffering in the shelter, and we want him to thrive in a home, but so far, none of our matchmaking work has found him that home. We don’t know how much longer he can take being cooped up in his kennel all day. We need your help!Zane’s adoption fee is waived. He is neutered, microchipped, and has age appropriate vaccinations. A licensing fee may apply.
