Update on our sweet Angel, our own little Baby Hippo, loving and ever so gentle: She is getting eye drops to relieve the pain and swelling of her right eye, (due to glaucoma) and will need to stay on eyedrops for the rest of her life. We are thrilled that she will not have to have her eye removed! Angel's medical expenses are covered as part of her sponsorship for adoption. In foster care, her foster mom has discovered she is perfectly housetrained, and has never had an accident. Additionally, she can hop up into a car for a fun trip somewhere, and rides like a champ. She is a most excellent representative for her breed, a sterling example of a laid-back companion who loves to be loved and have attention lavished on her! Yesterday was her big day for a spay, updated vaccines, and the removal of a marble-sized mammary tumor. This girl has been through the ringer, but maintains her happy attitude! She would love to be adopted! ******* Personable, and ever so happy to be out of the living situation in which she found herself before being signed over to the county shelter, our girl Angel is one of the sweetest girls imaginable! At fourteen years old, she appears to defy aging, and we don't know how! She is on the "fluffy," side, but carries her weight well, and uses it to her advantage to entice admiring humans to allow her to give them kisses and lots of attention. She loves the company of her male companion, Blaze, but is less dependent on him than he is on her. We are attempting to buy them time alone, but Blaze prefers hanging out with his female friend to being in solitary confinement, so we don't make it last too very long! She has seen a vet, and is surprisingly healthy, with her senior bloodwork looking great. She tries hard to be housetrained, which is not an easy task in a shelter, but she is amazingly clean. When she is with Blaze, she is not good around other dogs, but she has less issue with it when walked separately. She does have a painful onset of glaucoma that will require eye removal surgery very soon. We will continue to assess behavior over the next few days.
