Description:

Beagle Dog for Adoption in Pacolet, South Carolina, 29372 USNickname: Koda Jan 23 Posted Breed: Beagle (short coat). Adoption Fee: $200. Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home. Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families. Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known. Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days? If so please visit our webpage at .carolinapoodlerescue and complete the application. You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side. You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available. Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes? Please drop a note to applicationscarolinapoodlerescue with your name, address and phone # and email. We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team Date into Rescue: 1/17/2023 Reason for being in rescue: Koda is nearing his first anniversary with CPR. He was found wandering in the middle of a road by one of our staff. At our first vet check, we found out he had heartworms. It takes heartworms a while to grow and it takes a while to get rid of them. We started treatment and finally, Koda is clear and free of these nasty bugs and ready to find a great place to hang his hat. The benefit for you, his possible new home, is we know him well. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Koda was intact and had heartworms when he was found. He has now been treated and cleared. He's also neutered, microchipped and up to date on routine vaccinations. Weight: 24 lbs Height: 14 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? No - he is a compact kind of guy who will get plenty of stimulation with leash walks. If you have a fenced in yard, we want you to know that Koda thinks he's a little mini bulldozer and loves to dig out of fences. We've worked hard to find ways to keep our escape artist in. He's never really trying to leave. He just likes dirt. What kind of home would be best for me? Koda needs an active home. He is not a couch potato. He needs to get out daily and he needs daily walks of at least 1 to 2 miles. Beagles can get fat if they are allowed to lay around all day. Give Koda lots of brain games and a good walk a day and he will stay slim and fit. It's good for you and good for him. We think he would like older children (over 10 years old). He's never shown any aggression to any one but we would be worried that since he's a gentleman of a certain age, young kids pulling and tugging on him or running through the house would be more than his mature mind would enjoy. He would love a home where at least one of his humans was home with him all day. What is my personality like? This guy is a charming and loving middle aged attention hound. He loves anybody who will give him attention. He is good with both cats and dogs. He walks well on a leash. Koda has a moderate energy level but is a typical beagle and loves to go on an adventure. He will head off wherever his nose tells him to go so a person who understands Beagle/hound behavior, better yet one with kids that could join him on his adventures, would be perfect for him. Since he was found wandering in the middle of a road, a leash is a must when out with him. After getting back from his nosey adventures, Koda will be looking for a place to snuggle up next to you. Koda is very demanding when it comes to attention and will do everything in his power to get you to shower him with the affection he so rightfully deserves. If the doorbell rings, you can expect him to be right there to greet your guests. Your guests should be alerted to this fact and that he will likely get his front paws on you to beg for some "welcome to my home" affection. When you hang out with Koda you will see him, despite his age, display a bit of puppy behavior. He will shake and chew on his toys like he’s in his second childhood. This sweetheart is looking for his humans to enrich his life as much as he will enrich theirs. While Koda does well with other dogs, he doesn’t like to share his me time with his human/s. One of the things he will do is give his human a big hug, then look back at the other dog and say "this one is mine." Koda knows how to get to the front of the "love me please" line. Koda wouldn’t mind being the only hound in your home so he can soak up all the love. He would also share his home with another friendly buddy as long as there is lap time for all. How do I act when I first meet new people? Lots and lots of friendly. Bring treats! Other tips and tidbits: We do not know Koda's exact birthdate so we've given him a birthday on his found date of 1/17/2013. This is just a guess. He does not look or act like a senior citizen and this may be a reflection of the poor conditions when he was found. He seems to be getting younger every day. Your vet may change this estimate. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina. To apply, please visit our webpage at .carolinapoodlerescue and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR.
