Please call 231-995-XXXX for more information.Hey all,I'm Declan a 6 month old male longhaired German Shepherd. I know my breed is usually seen to be a strong confident protector, well I have none of those qualities yet. My spirit animal is a chicken probably a Plymouth Rock with my name. I can be described as more of a timid rooster. Once I warm up to you, which doesn't take very long, I'll sit in your lap accept pets, treats and even give your hand or face a lick. You see I haven't had the best start in life as it appears I have been shifted around multiple times and then landed here at the shelter. I came in underweight and loaded with worms. I have been dewormed to start fixing that issue but still haven't started gaining weight. My long hair provides a good cover up but I have weight to gain and lots of growing to do. Do you have a quieter home with a well adjusted dog that might be able to mentor me? I can only go out as a foster or foster to adopt at this time as I'm not old enough to be fixed or have a heartworm test.UPDATE: Declan is currently doing well in his foster training program. So far his ideal home would be a home as an only pet or with 1 well adjusted dog to show him the ropes. He would do best in a home with no kids as he is still somewhat shy and your typical herding breed. Shepherd experience is preferred.
