Great Dane Dog for Adoption in Belleville, Michigan, 48111 USNickname: Sequoia Posted Breed: Great Dane (short coat). Hi! I'm Sequoia, I'm a 9 month old Great Dane puppy. I was brought to FMAR as a stray when I was 4 months old. Since then I've been living with a family with an 8 year old dog, and my energy level has turned out to be too much for her. I love my neighborhood dog friends who are closer in age to me, and who also love to play zoomies & wrestling. I think I would love a sibling dog with a similar energy level to me, or as a single dog who has lots of opportunities to play with other dogs at my house, their house, or at doggy daycare. I've done great on doggy playdates with 1-4 dogs all around my same energy level. Things I love: my people, squeaky toys, playtime with people & dogs, training, the snow, water and walks. Great things about me: I completed my STARR Puppy certification (puppy version of the Canine Good Citizen). I know how to sit, wait, go "down", look, touch/come and shake (most of the time). I can get excited on walks when I see a particularly awesome looking stick, a squrirel who is asking to be chased, or another dog. I'm getting better at listening to my human when they say "With me!", then I get a treat. But sometimes I just get really excited, then my human tells me to Sit & Wait. Once I calm down, I get a treat & we keep walking. I willing go into my crate (aka the Apartment) when I need to a break/nap, my family leaves & at bedtime. I'd also love to sleep with my people, but I'm a bit of a bed hog. Things that make me nervous: new people, loud noises, people on bikes, and dogs in their backyards yards/on leash dogs that are barking or growling at me. I will growl back and show them I am upset if another dog I meet in person growls at me. I am a typical puppy in many ways. I sometimes take things that don't belong to me. Most of the time when I take things - I just want to play "keep away" so you will chase me. If you tell me "Touch", I will normally bring you the thing or drop it & run over. I am potty trained. I don't think I would like to live with cats, they look too much like squirrels. I live with 3 kids now (4, 11 & 13), and have met many other kids who came over to play. I do get nervous about new people, so I would need kids who understand to give me space when I first join your family. I am up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. The veterinarian suggested that we wait until I'm a little older to get spayed. My adoption fee is $300, which helps cover the cost of the medical care I have received.
