A little about my background. I was surrendered to an overcrowded animal control facility in emaciated condition. Once I’d gained enough weight to be deemed healthy for transport, I was sent to CARE to find my forever home. The staff and volunteers tell me I’m a sweetheart of a dog, a Gentle Giant who doesn’t yet understand how much space he occupies. For example, as I gaze up into their eyes, tail wagging, waiting for a pet or hug, I’m likely to be sitting on—not at—their feet. I also bump into walls and try to fit into places that are too small for me. So yes, I’m still a clumsy, goofy puppy, but the word that best describes me is loving. I adore being around people and consider everyone I meet to be my pal. I show affection by rubbing against their legs and, whenever possible, cuddling with them on a couch and giving lots of kisses. Here are some other things I’d like to share. I’m very smart and treat-motivated and have already learned sit, down, come, look and touch. I’m not particularly interested in toys, although I do enjoy a peanut butter-filled Kong. I like playing with other pooches, but they should be medium- or large sized, as I’m a bit too much for the little ones. I’m still learning to walk politely and not pull, so I’ll need your help working on my leash manners. Finally, I’m happy to report I keep my kennel clean, doing my business outdoors, and tolerate my kennel, though my preference is to be with/near a human at all times.
