Luna is a special girl! She is also sweet, smart, and sometimes acts a little goofy! We are thinking beautiful Luna is a Great Dane mix. She is already 83 lbs. at 8 months old and will likely be a pretty big girl when full grown. Luna is an amazing dog and is completely deaf. A potential adopter will need to be committed to work with a professional trainer to teach Luna hand commands and recall (aka doggie sign language). Also, an adopter should have the time, energy, and resources to help Luna settle into a routine. The first 6-12 months will likely be a lot of hard work and be quite challenging at times but will pay off with sweet and loving companion. Her foster mom thinks she would learn quickly if a modest amount of time and effort were invested in teaching her to communicate. Her ideal adopter would be someone familiar with working with deaf dogs. Luna is a friendly girl but can be a bit rambunctious and will need someone with patience but also firmness and predictability. She is house trained, crate trained, and walks good on the leash and does well meeting people out in public but is easily distracted. She is a big girl and is known to get excited and jump and don’t recommend her for a home with young children. We think regular training would make a huge step in dialing down her jumping and general excitement. She loves other dogs but may initially bark at new dogs but quickly settles and is ready to play. We don’t know how she is with cats but has chased ones she has seen. She is at a point in her puppyhood where she likes to chew on things she shouldn’t and training is underway to redirect her to appropriate toys, but she still needs more practice. She rides great in the car and would love to join you on an adventure where she could get more practice on the leash. Luna does have a voice and will bark to get your attention. A fenced yard would be ideal for she so she can run and play safely. Luna is a sweet, smart, and happy girl who just wants a loving forever home. Can you make her dream come true?
