Meet Kord, a young, intelligent, and gentle boy. We are thinking he is a Great Pyrenees mix. He's got a heart as big as his size, and he loves nothing more than to share his affection with everyone he meets. He thrives on being close to his people, and especially adores children. Known for his amiable nature, Kord easily gets along with other dogs and generously shares his space with cats during mealtime and bedtime. Despite his general calmness, Kord expresses discomfort during storms and occasionally exhibits anxiety when in the car or left alone. It's worth noting that he's making progress in overcoming these challenges, showcasing his adaptability and resilience. Kord is housetrained but does not enjoy the crate. He has been left alone for up to four hours without destruction. He walks pretty good on the leash but may pull. He loves long walks & exploring and would enjoy a family who likes to spend time doing activities outdoors. A fenced yard would be great so Kord can run and play safely, but if that's not available he will likely do just fine with daily leash walks and some opportunities for off-leash play in a fenced yard or long-lead sniff time. We recommend that you and Kord sign up for some dog training classes together, ideally in the first 60 days or so of bringing him home. Group training classes are a great way to reinforce important skills, learn some new tricks, and get some quality socialization time with other furry friends. Kord is not just a pet, he's a friend, a companion, and a source of unconditional love. He's ready to find a home where he can share his love and joy. Adopt Kord, and let him fill your life with laughter, fun, and companionship. Kord’s story: He was stray who hung out at local rural convenience store for several weeks prior to being dumped along highway in front of vet’s office. He was social and friendly but submissive to the customers who were feeding him lots of people food. He has transitioned to a proper dog food diet and is doing great with his foster family! Medical Note: This dog has tested positive for exposure to ehrlichia. This does not mean that this dog had/has an active infection of ehrlichiosis, only that the dog was exposed or infected in the past. This dog is/has been asymptomatic while in SOS care and is being treated/has been treated preventatively with a 28-day course of doxycycline. This dog is ready for adoption, though may continue to test positive for exposure to ehrlichia for some time.
