Hocus Soho Labrador Retriever Adult Female

Location:
Provo, UT
Description:

**Fostered in Seattle, WA and ready for meet & greets!** This cutie is Hocus. - a total love bug!- loves sleeping in the sun- feels safest when cuddling with person or other dog- always hungry! Hocus is currently 5 months old, 30 lbs, and we think she may be a Labrador Retriever mix, but with rescue it’s a guess! She’s already potty trained and sleeps in a crate in her foster’s room at night without ever making a peep. She wakes up ready to go out at about 6:30am. She eats 2 cups of kibble twice a day, but is still fairly underweight. She eats Kirkland brand Beef and Sweet Potatoes. Her digestion system has no problems. She spends most of the day with her leash tethered to her foster’s belt learning to “not be in charge” and to get comfortable following. That’s working very well. She has lots of energy in the morning. She’s a newbie to leash walks, but is getting it. She’d love a fencedyard or nearby dog park where she could burn some energy. She’s very interested in balls making the theory that she might be part Retriever quite plausible. Hocus knows her sit command and is learning not to jump up to kiss you when you pet her. She rides in a crate in her foster’s vehicle nearly everyday and is quite content there. She’s currently residing with a six-year old female Staffy. She chased cats at her former foster’s home in Texas, so we’re not sure she’d be reliable in a house with cats. She has a ways to go before her ‘fly through the air’ routine subsides, so small kids would be a bad match at this time. The focus of her training over the next few weeks will be continuing to ease out of separation anxiety and general house manners. She is not left to free roam the house as she’s just too young and like most pups, she’s still a chewer. We make sure she always has something to chew in her crate. We use Milk Bone Minis for training and to encourage her into her crate. She’d be best in a home where her adoptive family can prioritize her continued training, but know that she is going to make a great pet if you invest the time. She’s very loving, learns quick, and aims to please. She has long legs and big feet and will likely mature into a large dog. Hocus is still young so they will need a family that can commit to training, socialization and all the dedication puppyhood requires. Her new family will need to continue with potty and crate training and daily exercise. We require a commitment from adoptive families to crate train their new puppy. When old enough, they will be perfect to go on walks and hikes or show off around your neighborhood. You will be guaranteed to get lots of kisses in return from your new best friend! Why adopt from Three Little Pitties? The stray and animal overpopulation in the Greater Houston area is the highest in the nation. Statistics show that there are over 1 million homeless animals in this region alone. Three Little Pitties Rescue is a nonprofit dog and cat rescue that partners with the community to make a difference. Our mission is to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and saving all breeds of dogs and cats from the streets or animal shelters that oftentimes have no other option but to euthanize animals for space. This dog you’ve found online is lucky to be in our program, and even luckier to have you notice it! Three Little Pitties wants to set you and your new pet up for success! We know our dogs and we work hard to prepare them socially for adoption. We are a network of dedicated people who are heavily invested in seeing our animals thrive. From the moment they are accepted into our program, our Intake, Behavior & Medical teams prepare them for adoption by properly vetting, behaviorally assessing, and providing customized plans depending on the dog’s needs. We seek to adopt to families who understand that these are rescue dogs and will require continued training efforts, but will be well on their way to being the best dogs that they can be! It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these special perks: • 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion (must register within 24 hours of first vet appt.)• A free private online dog training session with GoodPup plus low pricing for future sessions (approx $25 weekly for an 8 week course of one session per week)• One free bonus toy in every BarkBox when signing up for their Super Chewer subscription plan• 70% off of your first order of Fetch, a PNW based, organic fresh dog food loaf meal subscription plan• Coupons for a fun visit to Petco • Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup!
