Meet Isla! Isla is a Puppy Mill rescue. She is a 4-5 year old female Labradoodle that spent her whole life living in squaller, in a small dirty cage, giving birth to puppies over and over again until her little body couldn't do it any longer. She never knew love, or even a kind hand. Heer puppies were ripped away from her while she cried for them. They were the only love that this sweet girl ever knew...and they were taken from her again and again. When she was rescued, she was terrified of everything. Every car that went by, every dog that ran toward her, every stick that was lifted was terrifying to this poor girl who knew nothing more than a cage and the terror of having her puppies ripped away from her. She was fostered by another rescue who found that she was a sweet girl and was so happy to find out that people could be nice to her. She wiggled all over to be petted and she huddled up against a person for protection once she knew they were kind. She was adopted and she was so happy. Living in a home was the best thing she had ever experienced in her life! She still had to overcome her fears and learn new things but she was happy and loved everyone that she met. She still woke up from naps/or during the night...crying out, scared...terrified of the nightmares she had lived through. Her new family loves her...she loves them and the children but Isla is not good with small dogs and the family's small dog is suffering. Isla bullies her and cannot be left alone with the little dog. We don't know why she is reactive to the little dog...but she is a loving girl that will need to be adopted by a family with no small dogs....she loves the family including the home's 9 year old daughter but we don't think that she would be a good fit in a home with cats or very small children as she is a bigger girl and gets pretty excited. She would need a slow introduction to a larger dog. She needs an understanding owner with knowledge of dogs that have been through trauma and that is willing to work with her to show her that she is safe finally.
