Hi, Im Kenai. Because of some sad things that happened, the only family Ive known all my 3 1/2 years, had to give me up. Im a big guy with very long legs and want to jump up and say hi to people when I meet them. Im smart and know many commands, but Im young and sometimes I forget to listen. I really like walks although I can get really excited and pull hard, but Im getting some schooling and learning to walk with a loose leash. Car rides are one of my favorite things, but sometimes I want to drive and thats not so good since I failed drivers ed. I love running and playing and just hanging out with other dogs, like my foster brother and sister, but Im really possessive and guard my food, toys and treats from both dogs and humans. Im getting some schooling on that, too. Ive been the only dog so far in my life, so Ive never had to share. Im happiest and can relax when Ive had some long walks or played hard with other dogs or just have a big yard so I can zoom around. You know what they say, a tired dog is a happy dog!Kenai will need an experienced northern breed owner, and will need continued training. If he is adopted in the Missoula MT area, he will benefit greatly from continued sessions with his current trainer. She has done wonders with him and his loose leash walks, and he is getting very good with a solid recall, which as we all know is critical! As with many malamutes, no young children, and no small dogs or cats in the household. Kenai is a beautiful and loving dog, and needs his forever home.
