Kody von Kohn is a very handsome, 2-year old German Shepherd. He’s an affectionate fellow who wants to be your shadow. He delights in having his ears and butt scratched and will lean against you suggesting that he’d like a bit more of that, please. He's enjoying learning his basic commands and, while he’s not a fan of cats, he’s good with other dogs and we were told has been good with children. He knows to take treats very gently. He’s a dream at the end of a leash. He starts out calmly and stays close to the handler throughout the walk. He investigates everything along the way and does great within a group of dogs. He meets every one of his companions face-to-face without issue. Off-leash in the play yard Kody is calm and comfortable from the outset. While he is a good greeter of the other dogs and enjoys some mingling as well, he is fine in his own company, exploring and sniffing all around the yard. After all the greeting, mingling and exploring, this very good boy is ready to receive some petting from the people present. (No cats please.) Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog.
