Tokyo’s New Year’s resolution is: PLAY This tall, dark, and handsome fellow was so scared and confused when he arrived at the shelter — so scared that he didn’t want to be handled by anyone. Even though he had a microchip, the number was disconnected and no one came looking for him. Fast forward a few weeks, and he has come WAY out of his shell. Even though he might be a bit shy around strangers at first, throw him a ball and he becomes your friend VERY quickly! He enjoyed a sleepover at a volunteer’s house where it became clear that he knew his way around a house and was potty-trained and crate-trained. Tokyo will bring you toys again and again in the hopes that you’ll throw it for him to fetch…but if your arm gets tired, he’ll just go and entertain himself solo with his toy like a good boy He was well-mannered around the volunteer’s smaller dog, and seemed mostly uninterested. He also encountered dogs of all sizes on a hike today and was not reactive at all. We do not know how he is around cats. Tokyo would make an excellent companion for an active family (or at least one that has a yard and will let him play fetch a lot)! He is a perfect hiking buddy and excellent on leash. He went hiking on Mt. Tamalpais this morning and had the time of his life! Let’s get Tokyo adopted before the New Year so he can stick to his resolution in a forever home ! Tokyo is around 2-3 years old and weighs 77 lbs All animals are up-to-date on vaccinations (including rabies if over 4 months old), microchipped, and spayed or neutered. All dogs have been been vaccinated with DHPP and Bordatella (kennel cough) and heartworm tested negative (if over 6 months). All cats have been vaccinated with FVRCP and current on flea control.
