Lady Libby the Best Family Dog Labrador Retriever Adult Female

Location:
Bellingham, WA
Description:

**Now fostered in Hillsboro, OR and ready for meet & greets!***More photos and videos on Instagram @PDX_Adoptables* Say hello to the beautiful, loving, and devoted Lady Libby! If you dream of endless cuddles, belly-rubs, going on walks, and playing tug-of-war, this is your girl. The first thing you will notice about Libby is her gorgeous amber colored eyes and her sweet, tolerant disposition. She is a beautiful girl with soft, medium-length, tan and white fur (but she doesn’t shed!). She is going to be one of those dogs that someone says is the best they’ve ever had. This is because she loves very deeply and she is very loyal and devoted. She is so sweet and chill. There’s nothing she wants more than to cuddle with her people and get belly rubs. Libby is dog friendly, has lived with a cat, and is great with kids. She doesn’t give kisses, but she will put her nose in your face and give you sniffs to show her affection. She loves to follow you around and check out what you’re doing. If you’re doing laundry, she’s right by you, but not getting in the way. If you’re cooking, she loves to just hang out and watch. She doesn’t jump up on people either. She will wait patiently by your side for you to give her affection. You will be her whole world and you won’t find a better best friend. She loves to ride in the car and gets excited when it’s time to get in (she will need help loading-in). She would be happy to go with you on errands or adventures. She would be great for daily walks in the neighborhood or low-key outings such as lunch out to eat on a patio, doggy store visits, etc. She’s not the dog to take to dog parks, parades, or other busy, loud, or chaotic environments. She can also go on easy hikes. We estimate that she is 3 years old, ~60 lbs, and a lab mix, but in rescue we never know for sure. Libby is partially blind, which we discuss in more detail in her adoption video for complete transparency. Her vision impairment has some impact on her life, but it’s very easily accommodated, and she will repay you with all of her love and devotion. She is very easy to have around. She’s lower energy, so she’s not hyper. She likes to play in short spurts, or go for a walk, and then cuddle up to take a nap. Her favorite toys are rope toys (for tug of war), stuffed toys, and some plastic toys. She’s not destructive at all and is not a chewer. She hasn’t chewed up any of her toys, bedding, or anything else. She can get mouthy when playing with adults (not aggressive), but she’s learning very quickly that we don’t do that here. Libby is crate trained and will need to continue her crate training in her new home. This will help her with routine and structure which will provide a sense of security. She is potty trained but will have an occasional accident if her cues are missed. A regular crate routine will also help with this. She is working on her leash skills, but isn’t hard to manage on a walk, as long as you let her stop and sniff all the things along the way. She knows “sit” and is working on “stay” and “down.” It will be important that her adopter continue with training. She gets very excited about her meal times and is working on sitting calmly to wait for it. Currently she needs to eat in her crate, but with further training we think she will be able to eat in the open. She is also working on taking treats gently, but it may be best to avoid giving treats. She is extremely happy and independent but in new situations she will need good leadership from her owner to show her what to do. Everyone who meets Libby is blown away by how sweet she is! Also her beauty :) She will immediately turn over for a belly rub and give all sorts of love. We've taken her to low-key events where she soaks in all the love and thrives being the center of attention. She is a social butterfly at heart! Libby is a medium to large size dog who loves to sunbathe, stretch out on her back for tummy scratches, and loves ear rubs. She is such a loving dog and just wants someone who will love her in return. She would do best in a home with a fenced in backyard as she loves to lay in the grass and sunbathe! It’s her favorite thing! In her ideal home, she would do best either as a single dog, or with another low-key dog who isn’t overly playful. She absolutely adores children. I feel 100% confident with her around my kids. She has lived with an older cat who left her alone, and did great. She will need a home where she doesn’t have to use stairs, other than a few steps. She could live in a 2-story home, but would need to stay on the main floor. She can sleep in her crate downstairs, which is what she does now. She would also do best in more calm household that is not too loud and chaotic. We would be glad to speak with you about your household to make sure that we all agree that it would be the right fit. We hope that you will pick her. She certainly deserves it! Three Little Pitties Rescue is a nonprofit dog and cat rescue that partners with the community to make a difference. Our mission is to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and saving all breeds of dogs and cats from the streets or animal shelters that oftentimes have no choice but to euthanize animals for space. We prepare them for adoption by properly vetting and providing individualized care through our incredible behavior program that consists of socialization and leash training for all animals that enter our adoption program prior to matching them with loving families who will treasure them for the rest of their lives. They are rescue dogs and will require continued training efforts once adopted, but will be well on their way to being the best dogs that they can be! Three Little Pitties Rescue will soon be celebrating our 5 year anniversary! Over the course of this time, we have been very fortunate for so much growth, allowing us to further connect with the community and save many lives. Through the combined efforts of all of our hardworking staff and volunteers, we have placed over 10,000 very lucky dogs and cats into amazing homes! By adopting from us, you save TWO lives!
