Malawi is highly intelligent, friendly, fun dog with a complicated history. She is a special girl and will need a special home too. She has shown resource guarding over going into her crate, high value items including food, chews, toys and leashes and any perceived restriction to her free will. Urgency and anxiety will make this worse. She does respond well to firm tone and a confident handler. We are working on it here but I believe to be most successful she would benefit from training in home or through a professional facility. She is the most loving dog and will be a snuggle bug she is also athletic and great on a hike. Outside of her resource guarding, she is delightful. She can learn any trick that you want to teach her incredibly fast, she loves face kisses and belly rubs, and gets the cutest zoomies. Adoption processPrior to adoption, all cats and dogs are given the proper vaccinations and are spayed or neutered. All cats are tested for feline leukemia and FIV; all dogs are tested for heartworm; and all necessary vaccinations are given before animals are adopted into loving homes. Adoptions must be completed at our shelter in Batavia, Ohio. Dog Adoptions• $125 fee for adult dogs• $200 fee for puppies under 6 months• All dogs have been vet-checked, have appropriate vaccines, and have been heartworm tested.• All dogs have been spayed or neutered. Cat Adoptions• $50 fee for adult cats• $75 fee for kittens under 6 months• All cats are tested for feline leukemia and feline AIDS, and are vet-checked and vaccinated.• All cats have been spayed or neutered.
