Nina was one of three young Dobie girls relinquished to a local animal shelter, so we have no information directly from an owner, but we certainly know that she is dog-social. Two other females from the same family were taken there by the owner. Nina's age was originally given as 8 months, but her animal shelter paperwork gives her age as 2 years. We place her at about 1 year because she doesn't appear to be quite full-grown yet. Nina is quite a beautiful dog, but she has had limited life experiences as yet. She didn't appear to know how to walk on a leash, and she darts away from those she doesn't know, though she appears completely unaggressive when leashed and handled by all of us who are strangers to her. At this time we're only considering placing Nina with at least one companion dog, and since we have no idea of her behavior with kids, we'll consider only adult homes until we know her better.Adoption processWe ask that you bring the whole family (including the four legged) so we can best match you with the right dog. Once you have found your new companion we will have you fill out a one page adoption agreement. All dogs go home spayed or neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped, with a collar, and ID tag. Our donations for dogs may vary depending on gender, age, breed and medical needs. Generally our male Dobermans are $250-300 with possible flexibility for seniors. Our female Dobermans are generally a $350 donation, due to the fact that it is more difficult for us to get spay appointments and therefore, we are paying more for those surgeries at other vet clinics. We have to ask more just to make ends meet for now. Little dogs and non-Dobermans are still generally a $200 donation.Shelter locationWe are located on a small ranch nestled in the orchards of Fillmore, ca. We are open every saturday from 11:00am-3:00pm for open house adoptions as long as you have an approved application. We have to keep visitors to a minimum due to the pandemic. We can arrange weekday or sunday visits by appointment as well.
