Ollie is a handsome 5-year old male Labrador Retriever who was picked up in the Belpre Ohio area by HSOV kennel techs on November 1, 2019 and brought to the safety of our shelter. Ollie has a shiny black short smooth coat with a smidgeon of white on his chest, white paws on his front legs, a long tail, and an adorable face with soulful brown eyes and short floppy ears. This big guy has a gentle (rather demure) disposition and a friendly but very shy/timid personality. He is a frightened boy who is making the best of what seems to him to be a scary situation (being in an unfamiliar place). Our kennel techs and staff are doing their best to make him feel welcome and to realize that he is among his new best friends .. And he seems to know that he is safe and loved. We've discovered that Ollie loves 'baby talk' and will begin to wag his tail when he hears that tone of voice :) He has the cutest way of 'smiling' and showing his pearly whites as though he is grinning to express his obvious pleasure of kindness.Ollie weighs approximately 75 lbs and has already been neutered. He doesn't appear to have been accustomed to walking on a leash (or perhaps is too intimidated by new people and surrounds), so our kennel techs have been providing temporary 'carry-out' service to supplement his leash training. Ollie has been fitted in a spiffy red harness for extra support.In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Ollie will be held for three days so that his family will have an opportunity to come and take him home. He will be available for adoption on November 4, 2019 if that happy reunion does not take place.
