Portuguese Water Dog Dog for Adoption in Candler, North Carolina, 28715 USNickname: Alistair Posted Breed: Portuguese Water Dog. He is beauty. He is grace. He’ll lick you in the face! Alistair is an active, loving guy who knows his basic commands and would win any beauty contest. As a Spanish Water Dog, his beautiful hazel eyes and curly tail are so cute! And like a true beauty king, his coat needs special care and regular grooming to keep him looking his best. He is about 2 years old and weighs 30 pounds. Here are some things to consider with Alistair: He is high energy. He needs a big fenced yard to run and play. Fetch and water are his favorite things. He'd chase a hose or go after a ball all day. Absolutely loves snuggling and will only sleep in bed, despite best efforts to have him sleep elsewhere. He gets along great with other dogs (as long as they're nice) He is not leash trained. We've put a lot of work into this, but haven't made much progress. He is wary of strangers and reactive to noise (he'll scream bark at them). We've tried working on this, but more needs to be done. He's a velcro dog through and through, but food and bones seem to really calm his anxiety. He's not destructive. Alistair’s ideal home would be an active one where he isn’t alone most of the time. He lives with other dogs and isn’t destructive when left alone. He’s also been potty trained using a dog door. Alistair is smart and would benefit from mental stimulation along with physical. Alistair is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative, dewormed, and on monthly flea/heartworm prevention. His adoption fee is $500 and you can apply to adopt at mpravl All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption.
