A LOVING LAP DOG: Approx. 10 years old / Approx. 22 lbs. and needs to lose weight Hi, my name’s Rusty! I lost my life-long home when my previous owner experienced medical issues and needed to go to assisted living. That makes me sad since it prevents them from giving me the good care all doggies deserve. Fortunately, Mostly Mutts has been able to take me in and I’m in a great foster home while I wait for a new, loving home where I can thrive with a wonderful family. • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I like the dogs I have met in my previous home, so if you have a nice doggie at home, let’s meet and see if we can be pals! / I lived with five cats in my previous home, so if you have a dog-friendly kitty, let’s meet! / I liked children I met in my previous home, but I don’t remember their ages. Since I have been known to nip if startled or accidentally hurt, it’s best the children in my new home be older kids (age 15+), and - of course, let’s meet! • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I’m a sweet boy who - though nervous in new environments, I calm down a good bit when I find a lap to jump in where I feel safe and comforted. I am a true lap dog! I’ll even settle in and lean back, as if asking you to hold me like a baby – so loving! I’m used to having my person with me most of the time, so a stay-at-home or work-from-home family member would be great for me. I’m reported to like everyone I’ve met so far too! / My energy level is 4 - 6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I don’t know any specific commands, though my previous owner and foster agree that I am a smart boy, so I bet you can teach me some great doggie commands. / I sleep through the night in a crate near my foster’s bed with no issues. In my former home, I slept with my owner, so – if allowed – I’d like to snuggle in with you at night, too. / I used potty pads in my previous home, so potty training was new to me but – I’m bright and picking up on the potty routine in my foster home, where I am on a consistent let out schedule. In fact, after a few initial accidents, I have been doing well in my foster home, so – yay me! Please keep me on a good schedule, so I can master my potty skills. • LIKES/DISLIKES: A real people dog, I enjoy going for walks with them, as well as hanging out with them in a fenced yard. I also love napping on or next to them. Collecting all the cuddles is my favorite pastime! / I don’t like being left alone and will bark a bit in protest. I also am not a fan of that loud, pesky vacuum cleaner, so I bark at it. Otherwise, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. I have a couple old man lumps and bumps that don’t bother me, and I hope you won’t mind either. I had a slightly elevated liver level, so I’m on a supplement for 3 months and then will be retested. Mostly Mutts will pay for that test with their vet. I’m looking for a home where I will be a much-loved family member, and one that will help me finish losing the weight I need to lose! With an approved application we can set up meet & greets and adoptions with a pet in foster care. We are not yet up to full ‘staffing’ following the pandemic, so there may be times when we cannot do meet & greets or process an application on the spot.
