Walter is our handsome merle standard poodle. He is NOT AKC registrable due to his color. He carries a copy of CDDY which has no impact on his health, but does give his legs a slightly shorter appearance. He is also still currently intact. We originally got him for our program, but are willing to send him onward to a suitable home, as CDDY is tough to pair in a standard program. It typically only exists in minis and toys (where a large percentage of the population carry for it). He is a HAM in public and looooves the beach. Hes great with other dogs and does wonderful with younger ones in particular. He lets our friends puppy pull him around on his leash! Super bossy, older dogs that think theyre everything and push into his space with attitude, he's less into, but we cant really blame him for that. Hes flashy, confident, curious, and everything interests him, which makes him very photogenic and he gets a lot of attention out in public. He has a bit more prey drive than wed like to see, so we wouldnt necessarily say hes safe around birds or small animals. He has had some exposure to cats and done alright, but would definitely need monitoring at first and he might never be 100% safe around outdoor cats that flee.He IS off leash trained, but it needs semi-consistent work to keep it up with 100% confidence, as he is smart and does like to follow some of his instincts. New environments would ideally need long line work before he could be trusted in them, but otherwise he is pretty solid. He has basic manners down, walks very well on a slip lead is crate trained and rides very well in the car. He LOVES to sleep in bed. He also loves to just be with his people.Walter would do well in a variety of homes at this time, so please feel free to contact us. We do meet and greets first to make sure everyone gets along.
