Ziggy is a 63lb terrier that is estimated to be around 6 years old. He was adopted out to a loving home last year and was just recently returned to our shelter because he became more than the owner could manage. The previous owner provided us with some fantastic notes about Ziggy in order to get him better placed. Please read over his description and if you feel you can give this loveable guy a home and keep him safe then please fill out an application and we will reach out to you.If you are looking for a sweet, LOVING, goofy, and RAMBUNCTIOUS boy, Ziggy is your dog! He is 6 yearsold (August), updated on all his vaccines, and takes Simparica Trio for heartworm, flea & tick. He LOVESto be outside, whether it's to run around and chase squirrels or sunbathe, he ADORES the outdoors. Hegets environmental allergies and was given cytopoint injections every 4 weeks to mitigate the rednessand itching. He does fantastic in a crate and knows it is his safe space. He will need to be in a home thatcan dedicate a lot of time to training and reinforcing commands. Although he is VERY smart and knowscommands, he often has selective-hearing and will ignore you. Is a houdini and jumped a 6ft privacyfence (3 times) and escaped his lead outside (3 times). He WILL take any chance to go outside, so besure you know where he's at before opening the front door. He MUST NOT be left alone outside. Heunderstands WAIT rather than STAY, and smooching noises. He knows not to beg and a simple, butstrong OUT command is all it takes. His previous owner found using a soda can with a handful of coinsinside works to get his attention and is likely to obey commands. He LOVES both adults and children andalways wants to be the center of attention. As such, a home with NO cats is a MUST as he has a highprey drive. He is dog-selective and prefers dogs who are not the "in your face" type. He is very reactiveto other dogs and his attention must be directed elsewhere where he cannot see them, otherwise heWill try and wriggle out his harness (having a harness is a MUST). He is very tolerant of things being doneto him by people, such as getting shots or glands expressed, and has never growled or snapped atanyone. He walks well on a leash but will pull like most dogs if he sees another animal. A simple, but strong "WALK"command and repeating that while walking will get his attention back.
