Zorr loves the woods. He is very curious and independent. Will follow or go alone. Best sited for tracking/hunting. Just because these puppies are pretty does not mean that this is the right dog/breed for you. Above anything else, you need to consider temperament, personality, energy level, compatibility & job that mature dog is intended. You may have a very specific color that you're looking for, but at the end of the day, a good dog aint no bad color. The "eye candy" of the litter are usually the pups with the most drive. Eye color & coat pattern are certainly eye catching, they're only skin deep. You'll have to live with this new family member for at least the next decade, you will want something that matches your job as a mature dog (which is about the age of 2)The Catahoula is independent, protective, territorial, high energy, high prey drive & often more aggressive at maturity. Catahoulas are very wary of strangers & you must be cautious when introducing new people. These dogs are not the social butterflies that the Not-A-Houla owner you just met walking down the street who allowed you to pet that spotted dog & you just fell in love with breed. (That dog was a cull/mix/or under the age of 2) Catahoulas know what & who they like & are an excellent judge of character. You will not force this dog to like someone when his instincts say otherwise. Catahoulas may/can/will show aggressive behavior when board, stressed or not worked. These are just a few of reasons catahoulas with high drive do not do well as service animals, emotional support animals, pets or in small yards due to that high prey drive. These high drive dogs need lots of exercise, LOTS OF ATTENTION and even more WORK. They need a job. (Dont understand the meaning of - needs a job - this is not the breed for you)The Catahoula is a breed that will take charge. It is naturally protective of what & whom it thinks it owns. A Catahoula is not a breed you can keep cooped up & insist on treating it like the tea cup yorkie. You must be ready to TRAIN that gray area between the ears (brain) & exercise (brain-body). If not, catahoula will eat your house & destroy your yard. If you do not have the time & energy it takes to TRAIN a strong willed, highly intelligent, manipulative, stubborn, assertive, yet clumsy energetic active dog, then the Catahoula is not the dog for you.NALC Motto: Not everyone needs a Catahoula.Visiting the farm is by appointment only. Please take the time to learn more about the puppy that interest you & choose temperament & compatibility regardless of color.
